Need Info on this problem please

A couple months ago my PS3(launch 60GB) got the ylod. I fixed it by using gilksy's videos. it worked for quite a while then gave out a couple more times. after reflowing for like my 5th time, i basically cooked the motherboard for 7 minutes with my heat gun and now its been about a month but theres only one problem. The problem occured right after updating to firmware 3.50 and right after one game of mw2, the game randomly froze. I had to turn it off from the console from the back and when I turned it back on and went to the XMB again with the game still in the drive, the PS3 didn't acknowledge that it was there, like it wasn't reading the disc.

If I eject the disc and put it back in, sometimes it would recognize that there is a game in, but I would start getting various problems, when I try to select the game, sometimes it would come up with a error message right there, or on Rockband 2 for example, it would get to the first loading screen and then be stuck there or just hang on a complete black screen. That disc reading problem goes away if I turn off the PS3 for a bit. I can start up again no problem.

I already did the file restore and even formatted the whole system so i believe its not software related. I tried cleaning the laser with some isopropyl alcohol on a Q-Tip. I have a pretty good knowledge of the ps3 now due to the ylods lol. Is this problem just a dirty laser and I didnt clean it well? or is it Blu-ray laser diode messed up and i need a complete new one? also, do you think the 3.50 patch had anything to do with it because i heard it has a fix for the new ps3s so they'll faster and something so does it make the older ones run faster/hotter too making the diode corrode away super fast?
