need advice regarding ps3 power supply.

Postby josedoad on Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:36 pm

my brother bought ps3 from canada. it states 120V , 2.1 a current and 60HZ with maximum wattage 250 watts. problem is we here get 220 V . what sort of voltage convertor i need , of how many watts ?

i have heard this now that it can run on 220 v. but ps3 has 110v written on it and my brother says he cant take the risk , if ps3 blows or something happen , he is not responsible

It has been 5 days , ps3 is just lying on my shelf. Electronic person here say they dont know about ps3 power consumption , i mean no one in own town now about ps3 as it is a small town. Now it is getting frustrating.

I am from India

i have asked this on so many forums before coming here. GOT NO ANSWER

where do i go now ? what do i do ? should i plug it directly into 220v. my model is cech-2101b

so i dont need a power converter ? I have asked so many forums. some say just plug it in . when i am ready to plug it in , someone says it will blow up your ps3 because it has 110v marking and i will be responsible for loss. then someone says , power converter may actually harm the system because they are locally made , so mo garantee. my brother brought this as a gift for me for clearing my mbbs. :smileyhappy: should i plug it in or should i buy converter which no one in our small town knows . what should i do know ? i hope you can understand my situation. i am looking for the answer every 10 sec.

Well, if you have read this link in detail:

http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html ... wer_Supply

You should have known that it is ok to plug it in. That link is the best source you can get on the internet. It actually lists the exact model of your power supply. The exact voltages it supports (worldwide). So don't worry, the PS3 will work when you plug it into the power outlet directly.

Are the latest CECH-25 models also dual voltage?

yes it should be. if you are nervous, you can disassemble your PS3 and look at the power supply. It should list 100-240v which is worldwide.
