ps3 - cech-2001a in india

I have got a PS3 - cech-2001a from the US. the power ratings mentioned in the manual is 120V. whereas the power supply in india is 220V. So far i have read that the ps3's have universal power supply. please let me know if I can safely use it in india with 220V supply if anyone has tried this in europe or in india.
