Sixaxis (developer and protype model) firmware upgrade?

Postby jumpsofast on Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:32 am

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone's had any experience with either the developer model (DECR-1010) or prototype model (CBEH-1010) of the Sixaxis controller. I bought a bunch of used controllers online to fix myself, and I know that I have a handful of both the developer and prototype models mixed in that are giving me some trouble. Here's the situation with the controllers:

I can plug the controller into a computer USB port and the 4 small LEDs will begin to flash, indicating that the controller is charging. Also, if I press the PS button, the PS button will light up red. The problem is that when I try to use it with my PS3 console (retail 60gb version), I cannot get the controller to connect whether it's plugged in or not. I know it's not simply an issue of resetting and resyncing. I read on this site that the firmware for the controllers is upgradeable, and I'm wondering if this might be the reason that the controllers won't work on a retail PS3 console right now. Any one have any thoughts, suggestions, or know how this can be done? Great site by the way! Lots of valuable information available.

Unfortunately, until someone with developer information comes out and provide the information, you are out of luck at this moment.
