Sixaxis (Developer model/prototype model) firmware upgrade?

Postby jumpsofast on Sat Aug 08, 2009 9:23 pm

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the developer model (DECR-1010) and the prototype model (CBEH-1010) Sixaxis controllers. I bought a bunch of used controllers for cheap and have been trying to fix them up. I know I have a handful of the developer model and a few protype model controllers mixed in, and those are the one's giving me headaches trying to figure them out. Here is the situation:

The controllers will light up when the PS button is pressed (the PS button also lights up red, which I've been told is another sign that these are developer models and definitely not the retail Sixaxis). If I plug it into a computer via USB, the 4 small LEDs will start flashing, indicating that it's charging. However, when I plug it into my PS3 via USB, the controller is unable to connect to the console. I read on this site that the firmware for these controllers can be upgraded. I'm wondering if this problem is just a matter of doing that for these controllers. Anyone have any experience with this or know how this can be done? Other thoughts or ideas?

Thanks, and great site by the way! Can't find a lot of this info anywhere else.
