Hopefully, the following missing features and bugs gets fixed in future update versions of PS3 firmware. In the mean time, these were found in the latest version (2.60) of the firmware. It aims to list the most troublesome, not a comprehensive list.
Information Panel gets its information updated in a language depending on the region of your PS3. So if you got a Japanese launch PS3, or you imported, the updates in the information panel will be in Japanese. Similarly, if you imported your PS3 from a region that uses a different language, you are unable to set the language in the display. Perhaps a way to set the language of the updates, or set the region you wish to get updates from, and this region would be dependent on the logged in user account. So if you created a US account, and logged in using the US account, you should get updates from the US region (it should not be determined locked by the region of your PS3).
If you are reading a message people sent to you, you are unable to get out of it until the avatar icon is loaded for that user. Unfortunately, it may take as long as 10 to 15 seconds for some icons to load depending on your network connection. So lets say you wish to read 50 messages, you would have to wait about 10-15 seconds to reply or get out of the message, and the PS3 is stuck, not accepting any inputs while it is waiting.
