Most people who are born, grow up, and die, end up living in their environment shielded from different areas of experience. In other words, what you do affects what you are aware of and what sensory you obtain in your different senses. These end up determining how you act and think. A person that has gone through their life living out their dreams or goals in life normally have a different perspective on life than say another person of different background of dreams and goals. Most people who have gone through scientific training would rarely accept supernatural events that are not explainable. It is thus that atheism and the rejection of religion is prominent in the scientists and people of similar background. However, in many scientists, acceptance of a God is publicaly aknowledged. If these people were not famous, then it is not of an interesting topic to talk about. But with people like Einstein (who is a pretty modern scientist) acknowledging the existence of God, it begs the question: is science and religion opposites, are can they coexist?
This article will provide an answer that science and religion can coexist. Note that only certain religions can coexist with science, because certain other religions have scriptures that if you read them literally, basically provides no outlet for scientific measurements that are reproduceable in real life. When things are in conflict, it is difficult to merge them, and thus occum's razor is the best way to deal with it: provide the simplist solution that can explain the existence of both. It is thus that religion can be explained as dealing with the existence of life, and the evolution and eventual creation of our each individual being. In other words, we evolved through births of our father and mother, and they evolved through THEIR father and mother and through this process we can trace our ancestry to early changes in humans to different species similar to humans if you go back long enough in time. This would not conflict with a creator because what this would mean is that somewhere along the line those genes had to be created, and the process of creating useful genes lies with the creator through the tools of the environment. It is difficult, if not extremely difficult, to accept the fact that certain animal's behavior were encoded in their genes by random, through the process of pruning of undesired random behavior through many generations. How can you accept that a dog will pee on a tree-like object so that trees can get water was beneficial to the dog in the long term? How did the bee's intricate dance to provide other bees the location of pollen be "randomly coded" into their genes? It had to work or not to work at all, and it had to be programmed in from the beginning.
Thus evolution happens, but a creator is working in the background, providing the "evoluting". This scenario provides the possibility for the existence of dinosaurs, and the evolution of different species.
