Something wrong with wolframalpha?

Is supposed to be a very strong math site.

48/2[9+3]

48/2(9+3)

It is very odd though. If you type in the above in that site, the first line gives the answer 2, the second line gives the answer 288. I thought parenthesis and brackets are the same thing! Me, I think 2 is the answer from what I was taught for either case. In any case, something is seriously wrong with the software if it can't calculate correctly all the time given the same rules.
