This is totally free open source and too cool. You upload a pdf file to this URL. It converts the pdf and then you download a zip file, which contains:
1) book.swf
2) index.html
3) a folder named 'data' which contains: (a) pages.xml (which can be added to and edited!) and (b) a folder named 'pages' (which contains each page as an individual swf file as well as anything you add and refer to in pages.xml)
4) swfobject.js (for use with index.html)
5) log.txt that captures problems (I haven't had any)
After unzipping,I just directly load the book.swf file into IE, hit <F11> for no toolbars and read "like a book". I have associated swf files to open directly in IE, so I do not need the index.html. Alternately, you can also associate the swf files to open directly in the Adobe Flash player. All I unzip is book.swf and the data folder. The pages can be zoomed and by click-dragging on a page, you can move around (up, down, left & right).
If you have not associated swf, then click on index.html (you will also need swfobject.js in this case).
The swf file has a page-flipping and go-to-page menu bar. You can also flip the pages by clicking on an upper or lower corner of the pages.
