Backing up

Postby edepot on Thu Feb 26, 2009 10:42 am

If you like your current XP system, and don't want to redo all these steps at a later date, you can do a backup of the current drive and system state. In order to do so, you must start two services:
Volume Shadow Copy
Removable Storage

Plug in your external USB storage device (like an external harddrive).

Then run: Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Backup

Select what to backup rather than let the default options provide you. When choosing what to backup, choose your main drive (like c:) in the Computers icon, and make sure System States is also backed up. When choosing where to backup, choose a place in your external drive, and it is a good idea to name the backup the current date.
